March 3rd, 2009

Pubic Lice Treatment Fact one:

Pubic lice, also known as (crabs) are small parasitic insects which infest the genital area of a human.  The infection is common.  People usually get pubic lice through sexual contact with a person who is already infested with pubic licePubic lice can also be transmitted by infested bedding, towels, clothes, and even furniture.  Pubic lice are usually found on the genital area but can also be found on other parts of your body like the hair, on your legs, arms, etc.  Signs and symptoms of pubic lice are itching in the genital area.  Tan colored specks on your pubic hair or small blue spots on your skin.

Pubic Lice Treatment Fact two:

The first step in pubic lice treatment is getting a lice shampoo usually prescribed by your doctor. Then you will need to apply it directly on the pubic hair and leave to dry for about 24 hours.  You will have to repeat the process again.  All of your sexual partners should be undergo pubic lice treatment as well.  If you have other people living with you and they use your towels, linen, bed clothing  etc. they need to also undergo pubic lice treatment.  All of your linens and clothing need to be washed in hot water.  If you have other items that cannot be washed you should put these items in a trash bag and put outside or in your garage for 2 or 3 days.  After pubic lice treatment if you keep having a recurrence of pubic lice it would be a good idea to consult your doctor for an alernative pubic lice treatment.

How to prevent another pubic lice treatment:

To avoid a recurrence and spreading pubic lice you should let all your partners and know the risks involved.  You should not be sexually active until you have used a pubic lice treatment successfully and you’re free of lice.  Bear in mind your partners need to be aware they should be treated for pubic lice as well.

Olive Oil Lice Treatment

March 2nd, 2009

Olive Oil Lice Treatment

Supplies you will need for the olive oil lice treatment

Head lice shampoo, olive oil, and a plastic shower cap.

Begin the oilive oil lice treatment by first treating your child’s hair with the lice shampoo.  Make sure to work in the lice shampoo really well before rinsing, then comb out hair and blow dry.  After blow drying saturate hair and scalp with the olive oil.  Make sure to lather in hair well, so that the hair is well saturated.  Then cover hair with the plastic shower cap and leave on about 8 hours or for better results, over night.  After the olive oil has been left on remove shower cap and shampoo hair and rinse well.  Blow dry hair and then use a nit comb to go through hair but make sure to section off hair into small areas.  It is easier to work with in smaller sections.  Also it is a good idea to have a white hand towel so after each swipe through the hair you can whip it on the white towel to check for louse and nits.  Make sure and try to remove all nits from hair before sending your child back to school or around other children.  After you have completed the olive oil lice treatment be sure to wash all linens, clothing, and vacuum floors, also shake out rugs outside.  The process is very time consuming and you will have to repeat this again most likely in a couple of weeks to get the lice under control to make sure there are no more eggs that have hatched.

Preventing lice reinfestation:

It would be wise to repeat the olive oil lice treatment once every week for a period of 3 weeks.  So your child will not have a recurrance of head lice agian.  The olive oil lice treatment has worked for my family and it will work for yours too.  It just requires a little diligence on your part.  While the olive oil lice treatment does not actually kill the lice, it does make it much more difficult for the lice to retain their ruthless and unyielding grip on your child’s hair follicle thus making it much easier to remove all of them.

March 2nd, 2009

How to Check for Lice

Learning how to check for lice is not that complicated once you get the idea how its done.  I have three school aged children so I know how frustrating it can be  I  have treated all three of my children for head lice several times.  So, I am going to give you some advice and helpful tips on how to check for lice.

A sure sign that you should check for lice is if your child is itching his or her head. That is a good indicator they might have head lice.  Go through and examine the scalp for redness.  Not everyone itches with head lice.  However, if you do not see signs of lice or nits, part hair in sections and and browse through one section at a time.  Tip, using a bright light will help you see better.  Browse through every section starting at the top of the head and work your way down.  Especially the back of the ears and in the center part of the head,  until you spot a louse or nit.  If your not sure what a nit looks like its a light yellow color about the size of a grain of sand and the louse is about the size of a poppy seed in light brown or light gray color.

If you see lice or any nits, deciding what head lice home treatment is the next step.  If you’re not sure what products to get here are a couple of home products you can purchase at your nearest walmart.  Nix, or the cheaper brand Equate lice treatment which compares to the active ingredient in Nix.  Keep in mind these products contain pesticides that may be harmful to humans.  Stay tuned right here for more write-ups on an olive oil lice treatment, natural lice treatment, preventing lice, home remedy for head lice, and other methods on how to kill head lice as well as pubic crabs.  We will also be posting many head lice pictures.

After this post hopefully you will have a better idea of how to check for lice on your children.  In the coming weeks, we plan on providing you much more head lice information.  If you do not see any particular head lice information that you would like to know, please leave a comment and we will try to address the specifics of your requested head lice information.

How to Kill Lice: 19th Century Know How

February 27th, 2009

HOW TO KILL LICE

All kinds of lice and their nits may be got rid
of by washing with a simple decoction of Delphinium
staphisagria or better known as stavesacre, or Lice-Bane, or with a lotion made with the bruised seed in
vinegar, or with the tincture, or by rubbing in a salve made with
the seeds and four times their weight of lard very carefully beaten
together. The acetic solution and the tincture are the cleanliest
and most agreeable preparations, but all are equally efficacious in
destroying both the lice and their nits, and even in relieving
the intolerable itching which their casual presence leaves behind on
many sensitive skins. The alkaloid delphinia may also be employed, but
possesses no advantage except in the preparation of an ointment, when
from any reason that form of application should be preferred.

It is very important to keep in mind that Delphinium
staphisagria is highly toxic and should never be ingested.
